Martin Day – A Champions Journey

Martin DayMartin Day was born in Sussex, England in 1955 and moved to Australia in 2004. He says he is “not a hero” but has been presented with active service and campaign medals gained through his military career with elite British Army combat units for twenty years. Some of the units he has trained (and served with) include Special Forces, 22 SAS, the Coldstream Guards the Ghurkha’s, The Parachute Regiment and Royal Marines.

A lot of his time was also spent abroad training Australian, New Zealand, American and Canadian armed forces.

Martin has always been interested in health, physical fitness and anything associated with core conditioning and cardiovascular fitness.

His other passion is learning and teaching self defense and martial arts; especially freestyle karate.

He has excelled in martial arts and various sports and he is the holder of many International titles. He has a reputation as a no nonsense sportsman and he has dominated everything that he has wanted to achieve and continues to be extremely focused on being the best he can be and to also help others to be the best.

Martin Day High KickDuring his military career he fought for the Army as a member of the Army boxing team and he is a qualified boxing coach. He has also had significant success in cross country running, 1500 and 5000 metres, swimming and Olympic distance triathlon. His many other qualifications include personal trainer, ASA swimming teacher, track and field coach, physical training, unarmed combat, pressure points and arrest and restraint techniques Instructor. He has taught survival, military tactics, weapons and other military and civilian subjects throughout the world.

In 1975 he was identified as the “youngest patrol commander in the British Army” and went on to gain high rank and service recognition before he left his Army career behind in October 1993.

After studying for a physical education degree at Chichester University in West Sussex he set up a covert surveillance and close protection organisation. In 1996 he designed and implemented his own dynamic self defence and martial arts system for adults and children of all abilities. His training system is now practiced worldwide and it reflects his impressive physical ability and dynamic no nonsense lead from the front approach.

He has taught his skills to the Police, youth groups and martial arts organisations in various parts of the country and remains in great demand.

Martin Day has been awarded the title of Shihan (Master Instructor of his own training system) and currently holds the rank of 5th Dan Karate Black Belt.

He has been featured many times in Combat, Black Belt, Traditional Karate, Martial Arts Illustrated and Blitz magazines worldwide and has been interviewed on radio.

He continues to train every day and believes that “you are only as good as your last training session.” He still teaches martial arts, self defense and all aspects of bodyweight conditioning personally via his books, CD’s, DVD’s and seminars to people who want to change their lives for the better.

Martin Day splitsMartin has taught his Fighting Fit and Unarmed Combat training program to British Army Special Forces and he designed it to aid already highly trained and physically fit military troops to propel them to even higher levels of battle readiness and combat fitness.

He has taught students from mixed martial arts, kickboxing, shotokan, Wado, men and women’s self defense and many more over the years and his ongoing mission is to “help people from all far corners of the World to lead a healthy, safe and successful life.”

Martin Day is a world class fitness, exercise and self defense expert.

Martin helps anyone get fit, or defend themselves.

You do not need to worry what your current state of fitness is. Or what your self defense abilities are.

There is no shame consciousness with Martin Day.  Even though Martin is a world class fitness and self defense trainer (you’ll see proof soon), he is very accepting of people; whatever situation they are in. Martin knows how to help you get into great shape, no matter what your starting point. No matter how you feel about yourself, or your body.

Martin Day welcomes the young, middle aged and old – both male and female.

Martin says:

I’m 54 years young and I can do more with my body now than I could when I was in my twenties – I’m much stronger, fitter, very flexible and have limitless stamina and my mind is as sharp as a pin! But I wasn’t always like this; that’s where my bodyweight core conditioning exercises come into the picture; and this is just a bit of what you will be able to achieve by following my training systems.

A long time ago, when I was a young 12 year old ‘whipper snapper’ of a lad growing up in Sussex on the south coast of England, I had within me an intense desire to ACHIEVE great things in my life and since that day I’ve pushed the boundaries and trained my body and mind to be a pillar of strength, and to be fit, healthy, flexible and to have endless endurance. Not only that but I wanted to lead the way in personal training skills, excel in sports, martial arts and learn self defense against weapons, multiple attackers and to teach self defense and self protection skills to men, women and children and to be an elite soldier serving with the British Army.

Achieve Ultimate Battle Hardened Health and Fitness!

Well, ‘How did you get on?’ I hear you ask, although you probably know the answer already!

I joined the Army at seventeen years of age and I don’t mind telling you IT WAS HARD – especially, as a kid I didn’t do any exercise, apart from walking my dog….and here I was at the start of my twenty year career in the thick of it with all of these battle fit soldiers with amazing fitness, core strength training and cardiovascular endurance and a ‘do or die’ attitude.

I had to be like them, so I rallied to the challenge and packed a lot of meat onto my ten a half stone skinny frame using unique military style exercises to transform me into the elite soldier and sportsman that I desperately wanted to be.

I trained at every opportunity using the methods I had been taught and I worked out when I was on leave at home, in the parks and in the gym. I turned my body and mind into supreme shape and I packed on thirteen stone of solid muscle – not bad for a six feet two inch tall shy, skinny kid from ‘average street!’

I Smashed Records in Sport and Gained High Ranking Promotions in the Army!

I couldn’t believe it – I smashed records (and opponents) in athletics, cross country, triathlon, boxing, swimming and martial arts. But I wasn’t satisfied with that so I volunteered to go on as many courses as I could including Selection – my goal or should I say mission was to get as qualified and as knowledgeable as I could in the British Army. This dedication resulted in me getting promoted to Lance Corporal, Corporal, Staff Sergeant, Warrant Officer and achieving qualifications as an Army physical fitness training instructor, Self Defense Pressure Points instructor, Unarmed Combat Instructor and many more….

I also discovered that I had a natural ability and instinct to instruct, teach, coach and inspire people to achieve their health, fitness and success goals.

I served with the Coldstream Guards, the Parachute Regiment, Royal Marines and 22 Special Air Service and traveled the world – I learned a huge amount about what the human body and mind was capable of doing; especially under pressure, about the beliefs and attitudes of people, strength and breathing training routines, unarmed combat, self defense and how to get soldiers battle fit, lose weight, get stronger, achieve total core bodyweight conditioning and how to make leaps and bounds in improving stretching and flexibility.

After 20 Years Army Service I Was a Civilian Again…

Fast forward to 1994 and I was due to leave my Army service behind and become a civilian again, after twenty years. The big question I had to ask myself was ‘What was I going to do now?’ What was my ‘second career’ going to be?

Well, it was crystal clear to me; my decision was based on my experience in the military and my sporting endeavours. I had achieved almost everything I had set my mind to – and I was on a roll in achieving major tournament success in martial arts.

This is what I did – I set up a covert surveillance and investigation company and at the same time I devised a cutting edge modern form of martial arts and self defense of which I was and still am very passionate about; you see, when you get people including kids telling me that they are being bullied and assaulted (some have got kneed or kicked in the testicles would you believe! That is when self defense is needed) I’m sure that if you are like me you would want to do something about it wouldn’t you? I decided that I wanted to help them and inspire them to walk with confidence and I vowed to help change their lives in a positive way and set them up for the future.

I reckon that I’m one of the few out there that is genuine about passing on vital, cutting edge training and success routines. I have done the ‘hard yards’ via a lifetime of experience. I know the secrets to what really WORKS for YOU.
